When helping families as a postpartum doula, I love to go on walks with babies and siblings. Sometimes we head to nearby parks. A few of my clients live near the along the Rail Trail in Zionsville. I enjoy walking to the "Castle Park" behind the Elementary School, and the newly opened Heritage Trail Park! Many times on walks, I'll wear babies in a carrier, rather than pushing them in a stroller. In the winter, it's great because babies stay toasty warm next to your chest! Either way, it's great to let babies get fresh air, a little sunshine, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors. Going outside is a great way to calm a fussy baby or help them fall asleep when they are fighting naps |
