ErgoBaby Carrier Adjustments and Ergo 360 Review

I made some discoveries about using the ErgoBaby carrier, that I thought I'd share. I have always liked the Ergo because it's easy to snap on and babies seem to love it! But sometimes it would hurt my back. I realized yesterday, that I could make some minor adjustments to help it be more ergonomic for me!

Picture 1:
Wearing the chest strap too high (what I used to do)
Picture 2: A better position for the strap
Picture 3. When I bend or squat, the hip strap often rides up. I used to just leave it there, but now I'm making the point to adjust it and lower it back to my hips so it doesn't cause lower back strain.
Picture 4. Better position for the strap
Picture 5 & 6. Another client of mine just bought the Ergo 360. I used it this week and really like it! The hip strap is wider, and seems to stay in place better, even with squatting and bending, which really helps avoid back strain, or frequent readjustments!

Zionsville Parks

When helping families as a postpartum doula, I love to go on walks with babies and siblings. Sometimes we head to nearby parks. A few of my clients live near the along the Rail Trail in Zionsville. I enjoy walking to the "Castle Park" behind the Elementary School, and the newly opened Heritage Trail Park!

Many times on walks, I'll wear babies in a carrier, rather than pushing them in a stroller. In the winter, it's great because babies stay toasty warm next to your chest! Either way, it's great to let babies get fresh air, a little sunshine, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors. Going outside is a great way to calm a fussy baby or help them fall asleep when they are fighting naps

Calming Fussy Babies

Tip of the day. If you have a fussy baby, grab a hair dryer. Most babies love the white noise! It worked perfectly for this little girl who was fighting her afternoon nap. She's happily sleeping now.

You could also use the sound of a vacuum cleaner, or a white noise app from your phone. The volume should be fairly high in order to be calming. Let me know if this trick works for your little ones!
