The New York Times had a recent article about "The Benefits of Spicing Up a Breast-Feeding Mother's Diet"
I was just talking to my sister about this. I was telling her how some moms ask me if they should avoid spicy food while breastfeeding. (Answer: Nope! Go for it!) Then my sister told me that she tries to eat EXTRA spicy food while she's nursing, because she wants baby to learn to love the same flavors that she does! ;)
Great perspective. I also loved my sister's perspective on first foods between 6-12 months. She has been doing a combination of store-bought baby foods and home-made. When she makes them at home, she adds garlic, herbs, paprika, etc to foods like vegetables and chicken. (She's skipping salt until 12 months to protect the kidneys).
But what a great idea! My sister loves eating food with bold flavors, so she's helping her daughter learn to love them too!
What spices, flavors, and foods do you love, and want your children to love too?!?
